This is why Totalsports have partnered up with The Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA) to bring you live home workout sessions for you and your family to enjoy, to keep fit and stay healthy.
Who are SSISA?
The Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA), in collaboration with the Division of Exercise Science and Sports Medicine of the University of Cape Town (UCT), has been a thought leader in sports performance, sports injury prevention, and promoting healthy living for 24 years. They have transformed lives, changed practice, optimised performance and provided evidence to inform policy, advocate physical activity and sports participation for all South Africans. They have created new techniques for performance and fitness assessment, some of which have been applied in laboratories all over the world. Their science begins at the DNA, which makes up our genetic footprint, and stretches to the social fabric of our communities.
Together with SSISA experts we will host live workout sessions on our Facebook page from Monday to Saturday, starting on the 27th April. The sessions will consist of various sport specific training, general fitness, Q & A’s sessions and a workout for the kids. The experts will guide you through the session with valuable insight making sure you have the proper techniques and most of all to ensure you are having an enjoyable quality session.
Meet The Experts:
Rodet Yila | Biokineticist at SSISA’s High Performance Centre, focusing on injury prevention, rehab and team sports conditioning.
Nzali Bangisi | Biokineticist at SSISA, focusing on injury prevention, rehab and conditioning.
Olivia Bloomer |A 200hr Vinyasa style Yoga teacher and Intern Biokineticist at the Sport Science Institute. She began practicing yoga from 2010 and specialises in yoga specific rehabilitation.
Grace Pholi | race is a highly energetic Biokineticist at the Sport Science Institute. She thrives in helping individuals realize their training potential and helps to maximize it.
Warwick Cross | Biokineticist at SSISA’s High Performance Centre, focusing on injury prevention, rehab and team sports conditioning.
David Leith | a registered Biokineticist and MSc in Exercise Science, works primarily in strength and conditioning, rehabilitation, physiological and biomechanical testing, as well as online coaching of endurance runners.
Ciara Botha | Biokineticist at SSISA’s High Performance Centre, focusing on injury prevention, rehab and team sports conditioning.
Ciska Smith | Kinderkineticist at Cape Kinetics, focusing on gross-motor development in children
